What we have achevied thus far.

I found someone to donate 6 small recycling bins for use at the schools.  Dan was so wonderful as to go and pick them up.  Spring break made it difficult to connect with people at the schools but I was able to meet with the student council last week and deliver 3 of the bins to BES.  Im still trying to set up things with Panorama.  Lipman seems fully on board with the program already.

At the community meeting I handed Tony Palmer the $219 cash that has been collected so far.  Tony and I also had a hard time getting together over the break.  We need to work on a simple and secure method for moving money to the PTO in the future.

Plan of Action item #1b  The mass mailing to all BSD families didnt gain us any volenteers in SSF or Souther Hills.  Im going to follow up with BSD to make sure they all went out ok.  Im also going to adapt one of our other documents for the Southern Hills HOA newletter to try and reach more people in Southern Hills.  No current avenues for SSF.

Plan of Action item #2a  I also talked to the City of Brisbane about setting up an all hours recycling center in the teen center parking lot.  The cities stance is favorable but Im still waiting for a solid green light.

Plan of Action Item #3  We are going to work with Spring Thing to collect containers, make sure we have working relationships with the local bars and a sign should be going up on the Community Board soon letting people know about this and other fund raising opportunities.  BES students and the Community Group both said they would like to have a "How to Recycle" education event.  Im going to try and see what I can pull together for earth day.  April 22nd.  Its very short notice and Im drowning with work right now so please no one be supprised if Im not able to pull it off.  I will try and do something in the near future.

Tony Curtis is planning on joining the group and has offered to help me make 3 more large recycling barrels.  

@ Dan & Sue, We have been invited to help with CRV recycling at Wild West Spring thing.  Can we do a drop right before Spring Thing (April 23rd) so that we have some empty garbage cans for people to drop things in at the event?  We will also need signage.  Other ideas about collection at Spring Thing?

@ Dan & Sue,  Have either of you talked with the local bars?  Tony C. asked if we have made contact with all the bars (7 mile house, 23 Club & Brisbane Inn).  If not, one of us should follow up.
